A pioneering approach to energy reduction, Parity’s software guarantees utility cost savings for maximising revenue from demand response units. Now they’re deployed close to 100M square feet of real estate.

At a time when few companies were closing big rounds, let alone Series B – Parity knew this was a big opportunity to build momentum. But there was an issue: they had never focused on building awareness in the media – so when we said this needs to go beyond “funding” we had to think bigger.

Our Strategy

Funding announcements often feel like a moment in time. Forgotten once it’s out. But that’s not how we roll. Instead of taking the dollar amount at face value, we kept digging to find what’s underneath.

It’s common knowledge that buildings account for 40% of global carbon emissions. But HVAC alone sits at a staggering 15%. Now the conversation shifted from raising money to how Parity is fixing this massive problem.

Exclusivity first

Being a Canadian firm with operations mainly in the US, it gave us an opportunity to land two exclusives: one in each region, while keeping the door open for further media activity.

Relationship building

This was an opportunity to foster stronger ties with the trade and national media. We gave journalists the chance to meet and interview the CEO, Brad Pilgrim, with many taking us up.

Hit the gas

Parity operates in specific US cities – so once the exclusives landed, we took a tiered approach targeting international and national media, industry trade and local outlets in NYC and Boston.

What happened

First came the exclusive in The Globe and Mail, not talking dollars but how Parity’s Series B could actually help lower condo fees and stop wasting energy. Commercial Observer ran the U.S. exclusive, and Axios Pro: Climate Deals was deep-diving into Parity’s grid-interactive HVAC tech.

That same week, outlets like Canary Media, Forbes, Propmodo, Grist, Habitat Magazine and the Toronto Star all picked up the story – some digging into smarter air conditioning for a stronger power grid, others asking when every building will be climate-ready, and even debating HVAC as a service instead of a product.

A sustained flow of high quality thought leadership followed in the months after, securing Parity’s place as a recognised force in HVAC technology.
